The Brief: design a logo and e-commerce website

Nasteski is a fashion label, specialising in bespoke festival wear. After a sucessful collaboration with online retailer Dolls Kill, Anthea Nasteski, designer and founder of the label saw a huge growth in her customer base.

For this project, I built an e-commerce website on Shopify, nasteski.com.au. I also designed a new logo that would help define and cement her brand’s identity among her customers.

Logo Design

Based on my research of other fashion labels, we opted for a simple and modern solution, a custom Nasteski typeface.

I came up with some questions to give us direction in picking a suitable style and aesthetic. What do people think of or feel when they see Nasteski? What personality traits define Nasteski?

  • Trendy and playful
  • Seductive
  • Progressive and free-spirited
A simple and flexible solution

A text logo was a clear and effective solution for Nasteski. As an independent label, the text is memorable with no abstract images or hidden meanings. It allows for flexibility with the changes in seasons and upcoming collections that would be featured on the website.

a hand-drawn typeface with movement and texture

A hand-drawn signature of Nasteski reflects how personal these designs are by Anthea. All her designs are made by hand and individually tailored to fit the customer.

The italicised typeface has movement and texture to it. It says “I’ll do what I want, even if it’s against the norm.” which goes along with the progressive ideals and free spirited nature of music festivals and is also a message that is sounded by many pop artists. Quote Miley Cyrus, “I can buy myself flowers…”

Website Design

Nasteski garments often feature a stark clash of soft pastel fabrics with tough metal detailing and studs. This aesthetic is reminscent of Y2K fashion and the 90s, a time where pop music and and technological advancements influenced fashion trends and youth subcultures.

Landing page

The landing page was designed to highlight Anthea’s latest collection “Bunnies of the Rainbow”. Featuring a slider at the top to showcase best sellers, followed by a promo video showcasing this collection and a grid of product photos from her instagram feed.

Product pages

To help customers navigate products, individual product pages were sorted via Categories or Collections. At the time, her collection featured 7 products, with two colour variations for each product.

Responsive Design

Seeing as most of Nasteski’s customers are heavy instagram users, we had to ensure that the site was easy to use on mobile devices. The layout is simple and columns are minimal.
